FAQ

How will my print arrive?

Your print will arrive wrapped, backed and flat in cardboard by registered post. Please state a safe dry place to leave it, or specify a day you will be home.

How do I recycle the cellophane?

I use a plant based cellophane, so you can chop it into little squares and add to your food waste or compost bin. I don’t use any plastic packaging. The cardboard can be recycled as normal.

What’s an ‘original’ print?

‘Original prints’ are made in the medium in which they were originally conceived, ie an etching from hand engraved etching plates, a silkscreen print from hand drawn or colour separated overlays, or a linocut from handcut lino. An original print is made by hand; it is a laborious but wonderful process, where artistic and colour mixing decisions are made during the printing process as during painting. The great thing about the nature of printmaking means a small edition can be made from the plates or screens. This can often mean original prints are a more accessible price than paintings.

What’s a reproduction print?

A ‘reproduction’ print is also sometimes signed and editioned, however it is made when an original artwork such as a painting has been photographed and then digitally printed by machine as a poster or a giclee.

I have previously allowed reproduction posters and prints of my work; you might have bought an unsigned print in Whistlefish galleries, or an unlimited reproduction print from my old website with ‘DP’ for digital print. I am presently only selling my work as original hand made prints or greetings cards.

Can you make me a commission?

I am not taking on any commissions at the moment as I’m busy making new prints to expand my galleries.

Can you customise my print?

Yes, I am always happy to add a special message, a hand written note, or speech bubble. No extra charge.

Can I buy your work for NFTs or use it to train AI and robots?

No

Is your work protected by copyright law?

Oh Yes!
